What to Expect in Your Treatment Process
You have taken the first step toward achieving your dream smile! We put your braces on and you learn how to take care of them and how to achieve the best results. You may feel some discomfort as your mouth adjusts to the braces at this stage.
In one week after receiving your braces, you will start becoming familiar with brushing and flossing. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen can provide relief if you continue to experience pressure or discomfort.
It should be no trouble for you to brush your teeth and floss them now that you are used to your braces. The braces no longer cause you discomfort — in fact, you hardly notice them at all!
As the alignment of your teeth improves, you start to see major changes in your smile. It’s now just a matter of brushing and flossing regularly to keep them clean and healthy. At this point, you probably have had two or three wire adjustments, but this shouldn’t feel too uncomfortable.
Now that your teeth are getting straighter and straighter, we can focus on your bite. Depending on the requirements of your orthodontic treatment plan, you may be prescribed elastics or specialized springs for aligning your teeth.
